About Chris

Hi, I'm Chris! A software engineer who has spent the last few years building tools that help make my coworkers' lives easier. Currently, I'm deep in the world of LLMs, creating knowledge base systems that help gather enterprise data from all our data sources. I get to develop projects from the ground up, from the database architecture all the way to the AI that sits on top.

I just completed a Master's in Computer Science at CSU Fullerton where I built an LSTM as part of an aircraft repairs forecasting system. I achieved 90% precision predicting volatile aerospace demand patterns, often outperforming traditional methods. The project involved a comprehensive ETL pipeline that integrated multiple data sources and was an excellent opportunity to apply my coursework to a complex real-world challenge.

When I'm not writing code or designing architectures, I'm experimenting with home tech projects, perfecting my galactic empire in Stellaris, or keeping up with the latest in digital privacy. I'm working on getting back into living an active lifestyle with biking and hiking around Southern California.

I'm always interested in connecting with other developers, discussing interesting technical challenges, or exploring new opportunities. Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn, check out my projects on GitHub, or reach out if you think we might be a good fit to work together!

About This Site

Just as I imagine most Software Engineers do, I over-engineered this portfolio site. Why host a simple static site when you can design and build a full enterprise-ready web application?

I run this site from a Linux server packed with Docker containers in my home. The frontend is built with Nuxt and styled with Tailwind CSS, while the backend CMS is handled by Strapi. I have a Supabase instance running that houses a PostgreSQL database and authentication server. Everything sits behind an Nginx reverse proxy and hooks up to a GitHub Actions CI/CD pipeline.

The journey of my little personal site has been long. My site started on a small Raspberry Pi in my bedroom at my parents' house, moved out to being hosted in Azure, and now it's finally back home, hosted on my own hardware once again. I find tech DIY and having full control over my piece of the internet satisfying. Even the hours of troubleshooting that always come with it lead to learning something new.

Site's overkill? Absolutely. I love it. The best way to learn is by doing.

Thank you for visiting! Don't forget to check out my projects on GitHub or send a message on LinkedIn.
